What We Do
We are a charity dedicated to restoring and repurposing historic buildings for community benefit. Since 1982, Glasgow Building Preservation Trust (GBPT) has delivered 30 major restoration projects and supported many more, saving significant buildings and landmarks that would otherwise have been lost. We are Glasgow’s leading heritage regeneration specialists.
We also support communities to explore and celebrate their heritage, and coordinate the annual Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival, Scotland’s largest celebration of built heritage.
40 Years of GBPT
In the 1980s, after years of demolition, a small group united to protect and revive Glasgow’s architectural heritage. This film follows the beginnings of the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and charts changing attitudes to the city’s built environment over the past forty years.
Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival
The Trust organizes the annual Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival each September. The festival celebrates and promotes the city’s architecture and rich built heritage.
Over 100 buildings and sites across the city open their doors to visitors, offering a wide range of free activities, including walks, talks, tours, children’s activities, and more.
