Glasgow Building Preservation Trust have been overwhelmed by the support shown for their first crowdfunding campaign. 184 donations have raised a total of £5378 towards the costs of developing the West Boathouse project in Glasgow Green. Through the MyParkScotland portal, gift aid collected on donations has raised over £700 for the Glasgow Green Endowment Fund which will help safeguard Glasgow Green for future generations.
Murray Shaw, Chair of Glasgow Building Preservation Trust, said:
“We are delighted and overwhelmed at the public support shown for this project on Glasgow Green. Not only have we exceeded the funding target set, but we have also found nearly 200 supporters of this exciting project.”
Ian Goodman, MyParkScotland Project Manager, said:
“The West Boathouse has been one of the most successful campaigns on the MyParkScotland portal, with the largest number of donations received for any of the MyParkScotland campaigns so far. We have been impressed by the level of support shown for the project and delighted not only that the project surpassed its target but also over £700 has been raised from the gift aid contributions which will support future improvements to Glasgow Green through the endowment fund.”
The West Boathouse will be participating in this year’s Doors Open Days Festival and will be open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. Further information regarding the project will be available, along with oral histories from members of the rowing clubs past and present. Doors Open Day information is here.
